Heartless - 2009

I just recently watched this movie with a friend of mine only because within the seconds of reading the about we realized Jim Sturgess was in it and we KNEW WE HAD TO WATCH IT.

I have to say this is now in my top ten. I usually never get scared when watching horror movies but wow did this one get to me. The way Jim plays his character Jamie ,who was born with a heart shaped birth mark that covers the left side of his face, gave an eery chill to the atmosphere. The word that kept popping into my brain was hopeless. The film convinces it's watcher that all hope is lost in humanity, Jamie believes no one could honestly love him. His isolation was destroying himself and made him think it was also fault for destroying everyone he'd ever grow to love. When he finally makes a deal with "Papa B" he thought maybe now he can finally live a life where he can love and be loved. I'd say the only thing that I had a small problem was the little girl (Belle) who followed him around. The movie never really specified what exactly she was. I began to think SHE was the devil because of her being able to convince Jamie to kill for "Papa B". But then I wasn't exactly sure because my questions for her were never really answered. I also didn't really understand Jamie's nephew. Well, yes I get he was connected to the gangs, but I feel the writers gave him too much of a back ground story and uncovered some of the back story not all of it.

I highly recommend this film. It is available on Netflix, at the moment.
